Spring is About to Spring

With Mothers Day not far away, it marks the start of a seasonal time of year much loved by all. When Spring arrives and we emerge from the cold dark days of winter (Let’s be honest, Autumn and Winter of 2022/2023 has been a both a wet and cold affair!), the Sun comes out, the birds sing, the inspects start to buzz and along with the sap in trees rising, our spirits do also. It’s a colourful and magical time of year when nature comes back to life and we experience those lovely spring flowers bursting through!

One of our annual springtime pilgrimages is a visit to “Crab Wood” (a popular ancient wood near Winchester and Sparsholt) to experience an absolute sea of Bluebells and other woodland flowers amongst the budding trees.

Bluebells at Crab Woods (2022)

Throughout the year, as well as our wonderful customers wanting to get their pictures, photos, canvas, prints, textiles, arts and crafts and memorabilia mounted and picture framed, we are also visited by local artists.

We love to show off our hand made picture frame making talents in our shops and there is no better way than designing a mount and frame solution and displaying it on our walls. We think (and hope) the local artists like it too as a well designed, perfectly balanced and hand finished frame can bring pictures alive and present them at their very best.

“White Drops of Spring” by Pradeepa David

To mark the start of this season, we are pleased to share with you a new local artist for us and some of her beautiful flower inspired prints. And yes, we have some signed Limited Edition Prints mounted, framed and on display (for sale) in our shop gallery!

Pradeepa David has a skill in capturing movement and moments in time and considers her pictures to be flower portraits hoping they evoke happy memories. Pradeepa says, “Flowers have been a lifelong love for me. Growing up in India, flowers were in bloom nearly all the time... Their colours, freshness, intricacy and scent attract me! Recently, I painted a set of florals in winter, which proved a source of joy, not just to me but to the many people who saw it too on cold dark winter days.”

We have a dedicated page for Pradeepa on this website, you can find it here.

But please, do come and visit us and see hers and other local artists pictures for yourself. We have a range of art subjects and you never know, you might just find that special picture to brighten your home, office, kitchen, bathroom, living space or perhaps cheer someone up.

See you soon
