How to show a Generation of Love and Good Memories

Whilst every picture, photo, painting or artwork we get is of course special.

Every now and again, we get the chance to present and frame something very special.

In this particular news item we would like to share with you a recent project we undertook. It involved a couple of rings handed down to our customer from their mother.

There was obviously a great deal of love and fond memory wrapped up in the items and we wanted to do the best framing job we could for the customer.

This was of course going to be a small “box” like frame that needed to present the rings well but also have some personal familiarity to the customer. We spent a few days discussing options on layout and presentation.

Being a particularly small frame, the old saying “less is more” is a good guide and we settled on dark red berry velvet mount - A colour much liked by the customer that triggered familiarity and memory of mum.

When making the frame, cutting the glass, designing and constructing the presentation display. Wherever we can, we always use conservation grade materials and fixatives in our picture frame making.

We wanted to present the rings themselves as best we could. Exploring different ideas for presentation with the customer, we didn’t want the rings to lay flat or stand proud from velvet board like a jewellers display. We wanted something homely, something gentle on the eye.

So, using a complimentary crumpled velvet material we made a slotted soft cushion to hold and present the rings. Nestled in and surrounded by the geometric cut mount, we were very pleased with the final product.

The customer was too!

With (paraphrased) comments like “This is wonderful and so much better than I had imagined… Thank you so so much!”, when the customer picked up their presentation box picture frame, that day was indeed a very good day for us!
